Elegant Summer Wedding in Edinburgh

Royal College of Physicians

Vic & Mike had an elegant summer wedding in Edinburgh. It was my first time capturing a wedding at the Royal College of Physicians and I loved it! Their day was filled with the prettiest of flower bouquets, bell ringing announcements, amazing magicians & a cake table of dreams! And at the centre of all this was a wonderful couple saying I do with their favourite people!

Venue – Royal College of Physicians //  Florist – Ollie and Ivy Flowers //  MUA – Karen Bowen Make Up //  Hair – Sam Davie Essential Hair // Wedding Dress – The Bridal Cottage Chobham // Bridesmaid’s Dresses – Karen Millen // Band – Dejavu show band // Caterers – Pinkerton Catering // Magician – Dave Reubens Magic

Morning Preparations at The Royal College of Physicians

The Royal College of Physicians is such an atmospheric building, full of character and charm. The ceremony space is held in the library surrounded by books. It is such an elegant room to say your vows in. In the morning Vic & Mike got ready upstairs which meant the morning was super chilled with no travel required. It was lovely seeing her get ready with her sister, soon to be sister in law & best friends. Karen Bowen Make Up and Sam Davie Essential Hair did an amazing job of getting everyone ready and the morning was so relaxed! The bridesmaid’s wore full length navy dresses from Karen Millen and Vic’s dress had a beautiful tuille skirt with a lace detailed bodice. The bouquet’s from Ollie and Ivy Flowers were so pretty in both colours and loose style.

Wedding Ceremony in a Library

Vic was walked down the aisle by her dad (whose reaction to seeing her in her wedding dress for the first time was legendary – see above!) And her mum did a beautiful burns poem for a reading. After their ceremony they hugged and celebrated with their guests! They then headed outside with their wedding party for confetti & photographs. It was a gloriously sunny day for this elegant summer wedding in Edinburgh!

Group Photographs & Couple Portraits

We headed across the street to the beautiful gardens that the Royal College of Physicians has access to. We had lots of fun capturing Vic & Mike with their wedding party before going for a little walk just the two of them. The gardens were absolutely gorgeous to have photographs in! We then headed back to the library in the RCP to get more couple portraits. Vic & Mike had told me previously they felt awkward in front of the camera but oh my goodness they were naturals! I gave them some gentle steers and they were flying!

Atmospheric Royal College of Physicians Dining Room

The dining room at Royal College of Physicians is so elegant & grand. But with candles lit it feels cosy and intimate, despite it being big enough to hold 100+ people! Vic & Mike used their pre shoot photographs for the table names (and also the orders of services from the ceremony earlier). These little personal touches gave the dining room such a special, individual feel. Vic & Mike chose to do their speech together and to each other. The guests were treated to the prettiest of pudding tables by Pinkerton Catering. And entertained by Dave Reubens Magic who wowed and astounded! Vic’s dad rang the bell and the cake was cut & fed to each other!

Evening Reception Party & Fun Dancing

Before the dancing began we grabbed some more couple portraits in the peaceful, wooden panelled hallway. It was a chance to also pause and reflect on their day! The band for the night was Dejavu show band who in my opinion is one of the best wedding bands! They are so good at getting everyone up dancing!! The singer brings amazing energy to get the guests dancing & buzzing with party vibes!
